Press Release: Official Kickoff Event
Eric Armstrong officially announced his candidacy for the Iowa House of Representatives in District 20. Eric emphasizes his deep Iowa roots, belief in the dignity of work, strong families, and fairness. A native Iowan and product of Iowa public schools, Armstrong highlighted his commitment to ensuring border communities like Council Bluffs and Carter Lake are not left behind. He framed his campaign around the need for leadership that understands the unique economic challenges facing western Iowa and brings people together to solve them.
Armstrong pointed to the competitive imbalance between Iowa border communities and neighboring Nebraska, noting differences in minimum wage, business incentives, and talent retention policies. He argued that Iowa must modernize its approach to remain competitive and keep families and businesses from crossing the river. His priorities include competitive wages, aligned economic incentives, improved support for educators, and expanded access to pre-K childcare. Armstrong cited his bipartisan work in 2025 alongside Josh Turek to eliminate burdensome regulations, highlighting two unanimous votes as proof that he can deliver practical results. Turek highlighted Armstrong’s work at the Capitol, “Eric has already proven his skills as a legislator.”
Looking ahead, Armstrong pledged to personally knock on more than 10,000 doors during the campaign, calling it a privilege. “Listening to those voices is essential to earning the right to represent this district.” He concluded by urging community involvement through volunteering and grassroots support, stressing that when communities take ownership of their future, they win. Armstrong’s message centered on strengthening House District 20 as a foundation to, “Make Iowa Strong.”
